Protection
The night window, novice protection and protected space — with the real numbers.
Novarchy is a game you play two or three times a day for ten minutes. That only works if the hours you are not here cannot undo the weeks you were. Three rules do that work, and none of them is optional or purchasable.
The night
You choose an 8-hour window — your night — and hostile fleets cannot land on your colonies inside it. You pick it once and it holds: moving it again is locked for 24 hours, so it protects the hours you sleep rather than the hours someone else is awake. A change made by mistake can be undone for 10 minutes.
New empires
For your first 72 hours nobody can attack you at all — unless you attack somebody first. The shelter ends the moment you launch your own first strike on another player, however much of it was left, so it is worth knowing before you go looking for a fight in your first evening.
Protected space
Sectors 1 to 4 are protected space: new empires are born there and the server holds raiding to tighter rules inside it. The rich worlds and the factions are further out, which is the trade the map is built around — safety near the middle, reward at the edge.
